The sketch challenge today was so fun and easy. I had fun using up all those little dahlia folded flowers that I made while watching the Presiden'ts State of the Union Address. Thanks for taking a peek!

This was a fun assortment of cards to make. I am slowly, but surely using up my scraps.. yeah, that's right, I'm a packrat! Do scraps breed when unattended, cause I sure didn't think I had so much! Wow! I will be sending this set to my mom! What do you think?

DAHLIA FOLD..

Isn't this a cool technique. It was for today's technique lovers challenge! It is called a dahlia fold and is made by folding circles, then placing them in the shape of a circle... I will be playing with this technique some more, plus it is a great way to show-off your 2-sided dp. All dp and embellys are fromK&Company...thanks for looking and happy stamping!

LOST IN TRANSLATION....

This card has been the most fun card I have made in quite some time..... because I got to freehand and doodle.. which I don't seem to do anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love to color, but this is different. The challenge was to take a look at the inspiration piece and then let it inspire you to come with something. I was trying my best to artfully and skillfully copy the original... but somehow it was lost in translation. I do like how it turned out. And it really is quite beautiful irl.... and I didn't us any embellishments, a first for me in quite some time!

BLINGY BUGS!

I just love this adorable ladybug... and what lady doesn't love a little bling! I got a little carried away with the doodling and wish I had just stamped or printed out the sentiment... it just doesn't look quite right.... so I will probably be covering that up with some dp/sentiment...but for now... here she is!

BEE THANKFUL!

I just love these bees from Stampendous! My DSS sent this stamp to me in the mail, and I just couldn't wait to ink it up! The wings have just a touch of dazzlin' diamonds on them.

Simply Said Get Well

I made this for today's sketch challenge... another great sketch from Roxie! I love these colors together and the black really makes it pop. I kept the embellishments to a minimum...Enjoy looking! Will be back later to add some other goodes that I have made!

KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY?

OLD!

Isnt' that a fun sentiment... and I thought it went so well with the flaming cake! Wow... get the fire extinguisher! Another card for the color challenge.

One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish!

This card was made for today's color challenge.. The challenge was to use real red, blue bayou, and soft sky. I course with all of the blue I automatically thought - fish! Doesn't it make a great little boy card?

Valentine Pocket Card

What better way to show your love on Valentine's Day than with a pocket card full of sweets! These pocket cards are always so much fun to make and even more fun to fill.

ribbon chaos..

The Grand Essentials & Get Well Bloom

These two cards are my submissions for the "Ways to Use It" challenge.. Today's challenge - EP, better known as, embossing powder. I don't know about you, but ep and I don't seem to get along. The Get Well was the first card I made. I wasn't totally satisfied with it, so I then made The Grand Essentials, which I like much better. I think they are ok cards, just now WOW! so, I think I need more practice with the ep... Thanks for looking!

From the Heart

I made this card for today's sketch challenge... Dont' you just love this cute little girl with her big heart! My mom gave me this stamp set a long time ago and I decided to pull it out today. I also wanted to make a pink and brown card... I've been seeing this combo a lot lately and really like the way it looks.

Sweet Thank You!

I created this card for today's color challenge: CC149 - Rosey Apricots. The challenge to use this color combo: rose red, apricot appeal, mellow moss. I pulled the cardstock out this morning and just layed it on the table..... and there is sat most of the day. I thought to myself *wow! now that's just ugly* - definitely NOT appealing. kwim? So, as the day passed and I worked on other things I kept thinking about these colors and how I needed to make several thank you card for gifts my son received this past weekend at his 3rd bday party. I figured if anything else... I could easily get rid of all of that apricot appeal cardstock that is NOT appealing to me! *argh* In the end, I am surprised with how well it turned out.. After checking out the CC149 gallery, I decided to keep the mellow moss to a minimum and only used it to color part of the stamped image. I also used liquid applique (my new favorite embelly) and some glitter to make the icing on the cake puffy and sparkly. Sentiment reads "That was so sweet of you!" I'm also trying out a new size.. found a different size envelope at Walmart, so this card measures 3x6. I've decided to share the recipes for my cards here, for those of you who may be inspired to make your own..

RECIPE:
  • Paper: rose red, apricot appeal, whisper white

  • Ink: basic black, rose red, apricot appeal, mellow moss

  • Stamps: sweet of you

  • Accesories: ribbon, stampin' dimensionals, liquid applique, crystal fine glitter by Martha Stewart, cuttlebug, swirl embossing folder

More About Ethel....

Ethel Has A Pedicure Party!

I just wanted to post these cute little bags.... I made these for my Mom (whose name is not Ethel *grin*). She is having a pedicure party with a couple of her girlfriends and I offered to make the goodie bags.. They are filled with heart-shaped reese peanut butter cups, mints, emory board, nail polish, cotton swabs, and lotion. Mom is making a salt srub and has the foot bath. I am sure they will have a fabulous time!

The stamps are by Rubbernecker. Sentiment reads "If you've got it, flaunt it!"

Valentine Pocket Heart!

I created this card for today's Challenge on SCS, to make a pocket heart! For some reason this challenge was extremely difficult for me.. I suffered through 2 cards before I came up with this one that I like. I had in mind something elegant and soft... and somehow ended up with bright and fun - oh well *rolleyes*. I was just happy to finally get my ribbon and paper to work together. I can't believe that Valentine's is right the corner.

Teachabella

Isn't she fantastic... sitting at her desk, waiting for her students! I made a set of these for my daughter's teacher. The maroon and gold are school colors and the bee is the mascot.

Birthday Can with Cards and other Goodies!

I altered this paint can for my one of my daughter's teachers. I love the colors on this. In real life it is bright. I filled the can with a set of matching cards and some chocolates, butterfly suncatcher, and other yummies! A fun project to make!

Wish BIG!

This is my entry for the guest designer spot for My Favorite Things! The challenge... to create a project that was not a rectangle or square...hhmmm.. so, I made a cake. First I drew my own design on some scratch paper, then I picked out some groovy dp. Next, I cut my cake apart like a puzzle and traced onto the dp, then cut again.. same with the icing, only with the icing I used liquid applique to make it look like yummy, puffy icing and I added some crystal fine glitter before heating to give it some sparkle. I then, *put* my cake together and taped it to some solid cardstock and cut out the shape - two layers... one for the card front and one for the card back. The inside is a lighter shade of teal. So... how to turn this into a card... I made a paper *bracket* to attach the card front to the card back and attached it to the bottom layer of the cake, so it opens left to right just like a normal card... whew!! Then guess what.. I don't have any MFT stamps, so I just printed out my own sentiment, layered with the same color cardstock at the outside of card.. and viola! Oh, and I used some regular curling ribbon for the ribbon across the bottom layer of the cake. I call it wish big because the card is rather large at 5" x 8". Hope you like! It sure was fun..
