VSNMINI Challenge #1: Pennants

You know, pennant stamps have become very popular.  Seems like they are everywhere and you can even buy die cuts for them.  Of course, I don't have a single one. Naturally, the first challenge of this Rodeo-themed VSN was to use pennants.  My daugher, Sarah, decided to join in on the fun. She did an excellent job on the challenge.  I love the way she colored her lil' cowboy. I have never cut out so many tiny triangles in all my life (for 2 cards)... and get them both finished in 45 minutes.  That's the challenge.  Well, here are our cards.  I think they turned out very well.  Sarah quit after the first challenge, but I did manage to finish them all and will be sharing them with you over the next week.

This card was made by my daughter, Sarah.
She decided she wanted her pennant to go down the side (clever girl ;)

Below is my pennant card.  After looking at it, I decided I don't know any real cowboys to send this to. So, I took the pennant off and will stamp another sentiment ot go at the top.

OH - SNAP!

First of all, thanks to Leigh for this fabulous digi..

I don't know what in the world is going on at this tea party.. but, OH - SNAP! ...Someone broke my poor gingerbread man's leg, and I'm pretty sure naynay123 had something to do with it! After all, she was here at my house last night and we were both working on our teapot cards together. Hmmm?? I only wish you all could have seen her bustin' a move with my daughter to a disco song - oh, my - supastar! Maybe that is what broke his leg... all of that disco dancin'. Hmmmm? You may think this is a made-up story, but I promise.. it's the truth - fer real!
My poor little gingerbread man is in so much pain, his eyes are crossed!

I colored this with my aqua painter and inks, added some google eyes, liquid applique, stripes and dots with a black pen, silver charm, and a tiny sparkly pom-pom. I used this week's MOJO sketch.

Thanks for looking. I hope da Mudder can get to the bottom of this!

This week for the Hambo Hoedown, Judy challenged us to make a card and incorporate stitching.  I decided to go with faux because I was too lazy to get my machine out.  I pierced the blocks of patterned paper, then used a black pen to draw lines between them to give it a stitched look.  My card features Sand Castle Boy.

Now it's your turn!  Grab your Hambo stamps and sewing machine or paper piercer and stitch up a card for the Hoedown.  We'd love for you to join us!

STAMPING WITH MY BESTIES AND MONICA!

I wanted to share with you some pictures of the GNO (Girl's Night Out) stamp night that I hosted with some of my best friends.  I decided to go with a summer theme featuring Hambo stamps.  I invited Monica, owner of Hambo Stamps, to join us.... and she did!  (I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity to design for Hambo this summer!)  We had an AWESOME time!   I invited my guests to wear flip-flops to enter the drawing for a door prize.  Here is a picture of Renee's.

She decided to embellish her's with some gi-normous google eyes adhered with glue dots (of course).. We all got a great laugh.  I had planned to take a picture of everyone's feet all lined up, but simply forgot.  The ladies wore some amazing flip-flops.
Here is a picture of Michele and Kacey with the jellyfish card.  Michele was the door prize winner.

Below is Linda, Sharon, and Emily

Below is Jeanette, Michele, Kacey, Monica, Lori, and Purvi

Below is Edith, Mary, Renee, and Betty (busy stamping)

Last, but not least, is a picture of Monica and me.  We had a great time!
Thanks to Michele one 'l' for taking this photo!

I have some amazing friends and love that I get to share my passion for stamping with them.
Next post will feature the cards we made.
A big THANK-YOU to Monica for joining us and sharing some Hambo love!!

HAMBO STAMP NIGHT DOOR PRIZE!!

This is a picture of the bag that I decorated which holds the door prize for tonight's Hambo Stamp night.  Several of my crafty friends love to get together on a regular basis and stamp, go out to eat, stamp, get pedicures, stamp, watch movies, stamp.... you get the picture.

Well, I decided to have everyone over for a Hambo Make-n-Take night.  The best part, besides spending the evening laughing and crafting with some of my besties, is that Monica (owner of Hambo Stamps) is going to come stamp with us!!!  She only lives a couple of hours away.  Eeek!!  I chat online with her often, but I am looking forward to meeting her in person.  She will get here this afternoon.  We will do a little shopping, then get ready for a night of fun with 14 of my wonderful crafty friends.

The theme is Summer Fun and all of the cards will feature Hambo stamps.  Check back tomorrow for picutres of our fun evening and cards.

Wishing you ALL could join us!!  Wonder who will win the doorprize???

HAMBO HOEDOWN #25

Summertime, summmertime, sum-, sum-, summertime!  Aren't these flip-flops adorable!!! Our Hambo Hoedown Challenge for today was to make a monochromatic card - with a color that you don't use much.  Well, I hardly ever use purple.  I decided to make a long and skinny, clean and simple card for today's challenge.  I paper pieced my image using various patterned papers with the same color.  I decided my card needed a little pizzaz, so I added some star brads to the thong and some silver liquid pearls for some zing.
Now it's your turn!!  Grab a Hambo stamp (or download a digi for free), pick a color you rarely use, and get stamping!  We want to see what you create.  Head on over to the Hambo Hoedown blog for the details...

Additional Details...
Stamps:  Hambo- flip-flops #3411
Paper:  elegant eggplant, whisper white, patterened paper
Ink:  stazon
Accessories:  ribbon, star brads, silver liquid pearls

Thanks for looking and hope to see you at the Hoedown!

Well, it is time for another Hambo Hoedown.  This week, Judy challenged us to make gate-fold cards... not as hard as I imagined.  I brought my Beach Brellas to the Hoedown. I decided to mount my image panel to a belly band and slip it over my gatefold card.
We'd love to see the gate-fold cards you can create using Hambo stamps, so head on over to the Hoedown blog for more info.

BEE-CAUSE I LOVE TEA PARTIES!!!

I made this for today's Teapot Challenge: to bring daisies and bees. I was also inspired by the colors of the teapot - so awesome!

I used some patterned paper that my dear friend Naynay123 gave me. I used it for the background. I cut out the cute little bees from a Hambo image called Mushrooms and the sentiment is also from Hambo. I added some silver daisy charms.

My three little bees should be safe from that bee bully Tate as long as they stay close to this big yellow daisy.
I used this weeks Mojo sketch for the layout.

JELLY AT THE HOEDOWN!!

Can it really be Wednesday already?!  Wednesday = HAMBO Hoedown, and today's challenge is to make a round card.  I used Jellyfish paired with the Jelly Good Fellow sentiment for my card.  I decided to make an aquarium with my card.  I sponged the background with soft sky, baja breeze, and not quite navy.  Next, I took a scrap of crumb cake and stamped my jelly upside down, making his tentacles into seaweed.  After that, I fussy cut, aka cussy cut, them out.. Then I had some coffee. haha!  I added that panel on my round card, then added some Muddpuddles sand and a few shells and rocks my son and I gathered from our last trip to the beach.  I used Crystal Effects to glue them on.  I just had to take a close-up picture.  It looks so cool in real life!
Next, I stamped jelly (this time right side up), in black craft and embossed with clear powder.  This allowed me to bleach him out.  I stamped him again, cut out his body, colored it, then attached with a dimensional.  I stamped the sentiment, cut it out with a nestability and added it to the card.

Now it's your turn!  Grab your Hambo rubber or digital images and create a circle card.  Follow the directions on the Hoedown Blog and get next week's featured digital image for FREE!!
Thanks for stopping by, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

GOLFING at the TEA PARTY...

This is Ralph.  He likes to golf.  He is wondering where his cart is, because it is too hot to walk 18 holes.  He thinks he looks cool in his plaid pants.
I made this card for today's Teapot Challenge.  The challenge was to make golf cards and send to a fellow who needs some encouragement.  You can read all about it on Split Coast Stampers, HERE.
Have a great day!
