GET PACKING

I made this for today's Ways to Use It Challenge - Get Packing. With this challenge you could go 2 different directions - make a card using packing tape, etc, etc.. or take a spin on the challenge and use vacation-themed stamps. I decided to use my bikahbabeabella along with a CTMH stamp from the Get Away set. With gas prices hanging over her head like a dark and ominous cloud, my bella chose to take her bike and go cross-country using scenic routes...Thanks for looking!

Additional Info
Stamps: bella, CTMH get away stamp set
Paper: whisper white, basic black, dp by K&Company
Ink: jet black stazon, night of navy, summer sun
Accessories: SU! markers, clear sp (for sentiment), circle cutter, ribbon

As I was coloring my bella, I was thinking about our plans for the summer and the price of gas... something that I actually think about far more than I'd like to. With this in mind, I thought that this card better represents our vacation plans for the summer.
While I was out of town this weekend, I got to go through my friend Laura's stamps (which are terribly neglected - LOL).. so I snagged a few sets that are going to "vacation" with me this summer. The CTMH Get-Away stamp set was perfect for today's WT challenge... Those stamps were sooo happy to see some ink. Tomorrow I may do something with a turtle! If you are reading this Laura, thanks for the loan of your stamps.. they say to tell you hello and that they like it here! - ha!

SKETCH CHALLENGE

This is for Wednesday's Sketch Challenge.. Here is the sketch..

And here is the card I made for it.
What a great sketch! I am still so tempted to cover up that white space with some cardstock, but I decided I wanted to do a simple clean card.. and try to keep it as near to the sketch as possible.. so here it is. This card is also for the DDC that I had the opportunity to host this week with some of my fabulous SCS friends. The challenge was to use a paint chip and a flower. I have two paint chips on this card, the green and the blue. and a flower... simple and easy! I had forgotten how fun paint chips can be to work with. Thanks for looking!

Additional Info
Stamps: lots of thoughts
Paper: whisper white
Ink: stazon
Accessories: ribbon, paint chips, prima, brad

FATHER'S DAY TOOLBELT

Well, this is one for the history books! I finally made a "man card"!! Today's Ways To Use It Challenge was to make a masculine themed card... I cased an old card by Shel9999... If you are a fanclub member you can get the template for the belt in the SCS Fanclub gallery... If you're not a a Fanclub member, then what are you waitin' for?..what I changed... I reversed the layout, used sticker tools instead of real tools, used a different stamp, use 2 shades of brown, then krinkled them up and sponged them with versamark for a leathery look.. Shel9999's original is a much cleaner looking card. Fun challenge and thanks for looking!

Additional Info
Stamps: all year cheer II
Paper: chocolate chip, close to cocoa, vanilla confetti
Ink: versamark, jet black stazon
Accessories: SU! markers, Jolee's tool box stickers, brads

COME LOOK THROUGH MY WINDOW... and you might see a snake! YIKES!

This is for today's color challenge as well as a little Double Dog Dare Challenge that I participate in with a couple of crazy stampers.. This week it was Anne's (aka Itsapassion) turn to issue the challenge..and well, thank goodness I have a window stamp. I used crystal effect on the window panes and popped up the hearts and pink fowers. Thanks for looking!

Additional Info
Stamps: for a friend, wonderful words
Paper: whisper white, blue bayou, certainly celery, porcelain prints dp
Ink: jet black stazon
Accessories: ticket corner punch, brads, crystal effects, ribbon

Now, yesterday if you had looked through my window you may have seen this unfortunate fellow... I found out AFTER I killed it with a stick (that's right I'm a superhero) that is is just an ole cornsnake and quite useful - sorry.. It would have lived if only it had told me before I bashed it with my stick.. and maybe had it not hissed at me and tried to strike me! The kids found it while they were playing in the yard - OMGoodness!!! Needless to say, Andrew is now afraid of the yard... which isn't such a bad thing since he is a fearless 3 yo boy with and adventuresome spirit who loves to explore. I suppose this guy came up from the creek to eat some cat food as he was pretty close to the garage where we keep the food. ooo.. now I have the *shivers*. After I killed the beast, I let the kids touch it and gave them a mini-science lesson on the parts of a snake...

Some NOT so WILD Animals, a CARD, and an update on BLACKJACK

On Monday I went with my DD, Sarah, on a much anticipated field trip to the Virginia Safari Park. It threatened to rain most of the day and was a bit chilly..which was great because all of the animals were quite active, not to mention hungry.. Here is a peek at some of the animals we encountered.. and we did literally "encounter" them. We rode on a wagon pulled by a tractor through the park. Our driver stopped several times so that the animals could come up and we could feed them. Everyone got a bucket with some pellet feed in it... The only animal who could not fit it's head into the bucket was the buffalo.. This however didn't deter them and we found out they have very loooong tongues. We fed them by holding our fists above their heads and dropping pellets down onto their super-long, super-slimey tongues. The kids really loved it when they stuck their tongues down their nostrils to retrieve any pellets that happened to go that way. I was just so glad that he didn't sneeze on us. Lots of giggles and "oooo, that's nasty".. followed by.. let me try it to touch my nose with my tongue. The cutest thing we saw was some baby pot-bellied pigs. They are so tiny, I don't know how they kept from getting trampled by some of the larger animals. Yikes... I didn't want to see any smushed bacon bits, if you know what I mean. Another highlight was getting to pet a baby kangaroo and holding an ostrich egg. By the way, camels not only spit, but they also will steal your food bucket!

Now.. on to the card. I made this card for Tuesday's color challenge and Wednesday's Sketch Challenge. I used an image sent to me by my DSS. Thanks! I just love little Lola from Sugar Nellie. She is so sweet. Thanks for looking.

So, the Humane Society called us and told us that Blackjack had been exposed to Parvo.... poor thing. He is in isolation, and since we do not want to risk the health of our dearly, beloved Snuggles, we will not be taking him. I hope he makes it through and that another family will adopt him. Some good news, is that later today we are going to see a big boy hound named BJ. He is in foster care and is looking for a forever home. He is house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, and UTD on his shots.... The only downer is that he is a big boy, weighing in at 86 lbs. I am hoping that he is a gentle giant. So, will let you know tomorrow after we go check him out tonight.. wish us luck!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I am posting this early, because I do not plan on being online on Mother's Day. So, Happy Mother's Day to my mom and my mother-in-law, as well as my fellow bloggers, SCSers, demos, etc., etc.... hope you day is filled with love!
I am already feeling the "love"... my kids brought home some of the sweetest gifts for me that they made at school.. take a look.. Not to mention they are getting "me" a dog, who will be coming home on Thursday. Yep, they say is it for me, but I know it is really for them and my DH! We went to the Humane Society and decided to rescue a hound.. yep, you read right - a hound, kind-a mix. His name is Blackjack and he is the most, mmmm, how shall I say it, ah, interesting looking dog I have ever seen. He will be Snuggles new friend. I hope she lets him know who is in charge! After he is "altered," we will bring him home. I'm so excited to get to train another dog on the invisible fence - NOT! I will post pics of him when he comes home.

Above right is from Allison,

Left is from Andrew, and below is from Sarah.

Snuggles.... isn't she so cute! She came to us from a lady who just didn't have time for her. We sure love her!

Target 1$ Spot Pail for Mom

Well, I am a sucker for the Target $1 spot... I sometimes go there just to look at the dollar spot stuff which is right by the front door, then head out to take care of other stuff.. I just can't help myself.... So, I found these cute little pails when my neighbor and I were out one day doing "girl-stuff!" Now Toni, my neighbor, wasn't so sure about my idea of fixing these up for Mother's Day.. and I sometimes lovingly refer to her as the "anti-craft".. 'cause she says she isn't crafty, doesn't like crafts, has no desire, yada, yada, yada.. and well, whadda ya know.. lookie, lookie at the pretty little pails we made! Yaye for Toni.. I knew she could craft! There is a craftin' diva just dying to come outta that girl! She made he sewing notions pail and will put sewing notions in for her MIL.. and I made the fru-fru one with the yummies from The Farmbasket for my dear MIL..thanks for looking... and if you see a crazy lady going nuts over the $1 Spot junk at Target, then it is problaby me!
