My Happy Place...
All month long, I have been participating in a card drive called Hope You Can Cling To, hosted by SplitcoastStampers. These cards made are mailed to the Anderson Medial Center at the University of Texas. New challenges are posted daily over at SCS. This past week has been very busy for me and I wasn't able to stamp, so I spent last night playing catch-up. Over the next week or so, I will be sharing the cards I made.
This card is for the Happy Place challenge. The challenge was to create a card that is inspired by your happy place. If you know me, then you know my happy place is by the ocean. This is one of my favorite stamps given to me by my friend, Linda. I used my aquapainter to color the image which was stamped in craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I painted the image then cut it out and matted it on crumb cake and cherry cobbler cardstock.
Additional Info
Stamps: Lighthouse Beacon
Paper: white, cherry cobbler, crumb cake
Ink: craft black, various SU!
Accessories: aquapainter, charm, muddpuddles sand, silver twine, clear embossing powder, punch

This is for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge: Just Give 'em a Squeeze! I just had to use this Mime image from Hambo Stamps.. Doesn't it look like he is ready to squeeze 'em - ROTFL! Thanks to my friend, Jeanette, who suggested using her Mime stamp for this challenge. So clever!
I embossed the kraft background with the swiss dots embossing folder.
This also fits today's Inspiration Challenge. Thanks for looking.

WEREWOCOMOCO...
...Now that's a mouth full! We interupt this HYCCT Challenge for a History Project. My daughter Sarah has a project due in November. Not one to procrastinate, we have to work on it and finish it NOW! We bought a tube of Powhatan Indians, gathered sand from the sandbox, twigs from the woods and raided some of my crafty supplies to make her interpretation of Werewocomoco: village of the Algonquin Indian Chief Powhatan. I love that she picked Powhatan instead of the Jamestown settlers. Werewocomoco is located in my native stomping grounds of Gloucester, VA. I think Sarah did a fine job with her project. She made everything except the teepee and I was in charge of the hot glue gun. I think it looks fantastic.
She painted the box first. |
Next, she added the sand. |
She made a fence across the back of the box with sticks applied with hot glue gun. |
Viola! Fence is up. |
She made the Long House by tearing various shades of brown and tan cardstock glued to base with gluestick. |
Teepee is made with crinkled cardstock brushed with brown ink. |
She added the people with hot glue and made trees using sticks and moss. |
Sarah with her project. Awesome! |

HANG IN THERE...
Back again with more cards for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges on SCS. This challenge was to make a card with an item or image that is hanging. I chose this adorable image sent to me by a friend. I decided to color the tire swing pink in honor of the challenge.
The second card if for the Things are Looking Up Challenge. We were to make a card featuring an image of something that you have to look up to. I chose the Verve hot air balloon.
The last card is for today's challenge: Bosom Buddies. I just adore this Stampin' Bella image of two friends embracing each other.
Thanks for stopping by.

More HOPE You Can Cling To...
I spent this evening catching up on the daily Hope You Can Cling To Challenges. I have had a terrible cold the past couple of days and wasn't up to stamping. I'm feeling much better now. These cards drive will benefit those affected by breast cancer. Specifically, these cards will go to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Here they are...
This first one is for the H.O.P.E. (Having Only Paper Embellishments)... I used my paper to make ribbon and brads (with my circle punch).
The last one is for today's challenge to create a window. I used my nestabilities to cut the window in the card base and filled it with primas and bling. I used this week's sketch challenge for the the layout.

HOPE YOU CAN CLING TO...DAY 2
Anyway.. long story, longer... this is what I came up with. I stamped the image on some glitter paper and cut out the spots. Love the little bit of shimmer it adds. Card base is from one of many pre-cut card sets I've bought over the years from those sale bins at ACMoore and Michaels.
Thanks for looking!
